Hello, I'm Nadja Schwendemann, a german illustrator.

Since 2016, I have been drawing children's book worlds full of dragons, fairies, UFOs, vehicles, and other creatures that mostly behave themselves—well, almost.

Before that, kindergarten was my training ground for 20 years: mediator for knights, comforter for fairies, bodyguard against monsters under the table—perfect preparation for drawing fantasy worlds.

Since 2022, I have been living with my family in southern Sweden. I live in the middle of the countryside, where my dog barks at the mailman, my chickens secretly plot their escape, and I try to grow more vegetables than snails in my garden.

When I'm not drawing, I love to trudge through forests (always on the lookout for trolls, of course) or smell flowers that are almost as wonderful as magic potions.

My illustrations are created digitally—quickly, with attention to detail, and with a lot of heart. Publishers such as Carlsen, Kaufmann, Baumhaus, Frech, and Tessloff let me add color to their books...and I promise: not a single dwarf was shrunk in the process.
